From Dr. Jill Ash: Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year. My earliest memories as a child are of Christmas. A family tradition dating back to my birth was to include ornaments on packages. Over the years I have received numerous ornaments from my grandparents, parents, sisters and friends. I carried on the tradition with my children and now my five grandchildren. As a result I have accumulated ALOT of ornaments! This is just one of my trees! My favorite ornaments include those handed down from my family, given by my family and ornaments made as a child, especially my pipe cleaner candy-cane made in Kindergarten. Other special mentions include ornaments embellished by my friend and patient Dr. Barb Schmidt Steinbrunn and those with special meaning associated with causes like Childhood Cancer and AIDS. This year my new ornament is the 2020 White House Christmas ornament in remembrance of JFK.
Holiday Traditions, Memories and Moments
First up, a submission from our humble webmaster. This cardboard Santa is from the Oak Park, IL Christmas parade. On the back is a blurb about the event and in pencil the date, 1953. My first ornament, but, being three at the time, I do not remember that parade.
Now when I look at our Christmas tree all these years later I see ornaments from at least four generations of family and I’m reminded how grateful I am for the gift of memory and the nurturing refuge of family.

We Love Helping Kids
Young children need special care when they come to the dentist. It’s a mixture of patience, sympathy and understanding the limits of each individual child.
Most kids are naturally curious. We find that when we take the time to explain what we are doing and why we are doing it kids will become much less anxious about being at the dentist. When the fear of going to visit the dentist is calmed at a young age the chances that they will enjoy good dental health throughout life are greatly improved.

T’is the Season!
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Season’s Greetings! However you celebrate this time of year it is a good time to pause and reflect upon the past year; the people we’ve known, the blessings we’ve enjoyed, promises we’ve kept, and promises we have yet to keep.
We have an abundance of things to be thankful for, not the least our patients. One of the great rewards of a family dental practice is the opportunity to see a family grow, from baby’s first tooth all the way through the journey of life. Recently we experienced the joy of working with the first born of one of our first patients.
We’ll leave you with this quote from one of our favorite stories ever written about this time of year. It was exclaimed by Tiny Tim in the Dickens immortal “A Christmas Carol” and is a good thing to keep in mind all year.
“God bless us, every one!”
